SKILLS ASSESSMENT and ORIENTATION

for players who have not played in the GYB Summer League before

SEPTEMBER 21ST, 4:30 - 6 pm

This program is run by the Grant High School coaches, not GYB. The format will be similar to the GYB Summer League, beginning with orientation and skills assessment, and will include some coaches from the Summer League and the high school coaches from Grant. There will be no practices, just fun games! Teams will be made on site and will change from week to week. For mail-in registration forms (registration is not available through this web site), click here. For more details on the Fall League, you can view the flyer by clicking here.

Grant Nation Hosting Girls Basketball Tryouts

for 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Girls Basketball Teams

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 14TH 4:30 - 6:00 pm at GRANT HIGH SCHOOL

Grant Nation is sponsoring teams for 5th, 6th,7th and 8th grade girls for the upcoming 2014-2015 basketball season. Last season, Grant Nation entered 6th, 7th, and 8th grade girl's basketball teams in the Three Rivers League. All Grant teams did very well.

Middle School Sports are returning to Portland Public Schools. Last year track was introduced and was very successful. This year volleyball will be rolled out in the fall and boys and girls basketball will be introduced in the Winter. Winter season will begin in November and end in March. Neighborhood schools will shoulder the responsibility of organizing and supporting the teams in their feeder school area. Grant girls basketball has started this process already. Last year we supported two 6th grade teams, two 7th grade teams and two 8th grade teams. I would also like to add 5th grade teams to our program.

Based on assessments at Tryouts, teams may also be formed to play in the Portland Parks and Recreation League. Our goal is to help girls find teams and for those teams to play at the appropriate level where all girls are competitive and have fun!

Registration for JUNIOR GENERALS, open to boys and girls in kindergarten through 4th grades, will open in November/December, with the program beginning in January. More updates will be posted as soon as they become available.
