Grant Youth Basketball: Our goal is for youth players to work on their game in the off season, and to play hard and have fun. Our summer league typically runs seven Wednesday nights, from mid-June to the end of July, with registration and orientation taking place in late Spring. Our coaches strive to develop the fundamental skills that will help kids play competitive basketball in a "sportsmanship first" environment. With the addition of skill building clinics, we are working to create a developmental path for youth players and promote basketball connections for kids in our neighborhood.
This summer's league will be held June 19th - July 31st, in the Grant High School gyms. Girls and boys entering 5th through 8th grades in Fall 2013 are eligible. Three games are held each hour at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. for a total of 9 games each night. Players will only play in one game each night.
We do not assign players to a game time or to a team based on what team their friends are on. Players with similar skill sets are assigned to the same game time to provide competitive match ups and an opportunity to improve skills. Based on the player assessments done by our coaches at the MANDATORY ORIENTATION AND SKILLS EVALUATION on June 2nd, players are assigned to one of the three game times.
